Bringing the 40-hour Court Security Specialist course to your agency
The ask
I want us to host the 40-hour Court Security Specialist course here, on our own site, with our officers trained as part of hosting and the remaining seats filled from agencies around us.
What it costs us
A classroom for five days, a room that can stand in for a courtroom on the scenario day, a range for the live-fire day, and the marking-ammunition gear if we own it. If we do not own it, that is common and there are ways around it.
Tuition for one to three of our own officers is free, depending on how many paid registrations the class carries. Tuition for the rest of ours is $495 per officer for the full forty hours.

What it costs us to send them away instead
Sending officers to a class elsewhere, at published rates, about $1,100 per officer in travel alone:

Five nights of lodging and five days of meals at the federal standard rate, and 300 miles round trip at the IRS mileage rate. Before backfill for the officers who are away, and before tuition.

If we haven't confirmed fifteen paid registrations fourteen days out, you owe nothing and we reschedule.

How we reserve dates
A signed Host Agency Agreement and a purchase order hold an exclusive six-day block. No cash deposit. The fifteen-seat minimum is confirmed fourteen days out, and it is filled by our officers, by the agencies around us, or both. Host tuition is due within thirty days of the final class day.

Who they are
The lead instructor is a serving Texas constable. The company was founded in 2013 by Randy Harris, who put together the committee that wrote the Court Security Specialist curriculum; TCOLE issued the course numbers in 2011 and the Commission adopted the certification in 2013. Teaching court security since 2014. The curriculum follows the TCOLE Court Security Specialist program and is eligible for TCOLE credit hours; hours are reported through the host’s licensed provider or academy, or by each officer’s own department. Delivered for the Cherokee, Comanche and Seminole Nations and for host agencies across Texas and Oklahoma.
